One of South Australia’s most respected aged care organisations has been recognised by the national peak body as the leading provider in the state.

Aged & Community Services Australia (ACSA), which represents not-for-profit, church, charitable and full purpose providers of retirement living, community, home and residential care made the announcement following a highly competitive selection process.

“To be recognised as Provider of the Year is a testament to our incredible staff and their dedication to delivering the very best care to older members of our community,” said Ms Sara Blunt, Chief Executive Officer, Kalyra Communities.

The criteria assessed as part of the award included workplace culture, staff training, technology, customer service, communications and the physical environment.

“What sets Kalyra apart is our person-centred approach,” said Ms Blunt.  “We get to know our residents, and their families, very well and our services and facilities are developed through their eyes.

“Transitioning to aged care, whether that be extra support at home, retirement living or residential care, can be overwhelming.  We recognise each person has quite specific needs and wishes.

“It’s so important to respect that individuality. There is no one-size-fits all anywhere at Kalyra,” she said.

As new aged care standards rolled out across the country in July, Kalyra Communities is prepared for a new era in aged care.

“Since 1892, we have adapted to the changing needs of our community.  That sense of responsiveness and professionalism is unwavering and one of the key reasons we have been recognised for our services.

“Rather than resting on our laurels, this award will inspire us to seek new ways of improving our care to ensure those who chose to be part of our diverse community enjoy a wonderfully full and rewarding life.”

Pat Sparrow, Chief Executive Officer, ACSA said Kalyra Communities was to be congratulated for its role in enhancing the wellbeing of every person in its care, and more broadly for its contribution to the development of the aged care sector in Australia.

“Kalyra has a proven track record of providing high-quality, bespoke services to the community for over 125 years.  The organisational values including caring, enabling and commitment are deeply embedded in the workplace culture which is complemented by a strong focus on innovation.  This is what makes Kalyra a truly worthy recipient of Provider of the Year in South Australia,” said Ms Sparrow.
