About Kalyra Communities

About Kalyra Communities

The James Brown Memorial Trust has been here for 125 years and over that time we have grown and changed.

We now provide a diverse range of quality services focussed on help and care supporting people to enjoy their life at home or in our wonderfully designed accommodation.

At James Brown Memorial Trust we have a fresh new look as Kalyra Communities while staying true to our values and our reputation for being reassuring, engaging and responsive.

With Kalyra, we’ve included the word ‘communities’ because that is the core of who we are.

It’s about our community.

Our community cares and we care for each other so ‘communities’ is a worthy inclusion to represent the diversity of Kalyra which includes people of different generations, social groups and physical abilities through the delivery of accommodation, care and services tailored to the individual.

Here for you.

When asked what we can do for people, it’s simply we are here for you. This means really listening to what people are looking for, not just telling people what they can have.

It may be a home to live in independently with community close at hand, it may be a private room in one of our aged care homes, it may be having services and care home delivered where you are… whatever form it takes, we are here for you.

Here for you with choices in where and how you live.

James and Jessie were married in Mt Barker near where Jessie’s family lived and Kalyra in the Adelaide Hills has been the historic centre of our service history. The Kalyra Belair Aged Care home and Kalyra Heights Retirement Village along with the nearby Bellevue Heights village beautifully reflect our history with a mixture of heritage and modern building designs.

Reflecting our historical diversity, accommodation is also offered through five locations across Adelaide in our James and Jessie Brown Cottages, designed for simple, sustainable low-cost living, enabling people to step out of risk of homelessness, supported by agencies, into a more secure future.

Today the Kalyra influence has spread well beyond the hills and Adelaide, to Woodcroft and McLaren Vale, with accommodation in the form of care homes well-established with their own personalities built around the residents, staff and volunteers and interacting with nearby villages.

We also provide services offering help at home for those in their own home or in independent living of any kind right across the Hills, South, Fleurieu, Murray Bridge and Victor Harbor.

So wherever you are, we are here for you.
