What does a Home Support Worker do?

Our Home Support Workers empower older people in our communities to live life the way they choose. By providing personalised care and social support, they ensure our customers maintain their independence, dignity and wellbeing while living safely and comfortably in their own homes.

Each day is different for our Home Support Workers as they travel to multiple customers’ homes in a day.

A typical day can include:

  • Assistance with personal grooming, hygiene and medication reminders
  • Help with domestic duties and food preparation
  • Support with shopping and appointments
  • Social support, such as taking clients to activities within the community

At every step, you will have the support of our Help at Home team, where you’ll always find a listening ear and a helping hand when you need it.

Who are our Kalyra Home Support Workers?

Our Home Support Workers are compassionate, kind and resilient. They deeply respect and seek to enhance the strengths and dignity of older people in our communities.

If this sounds like you, here is what else you will need:

  • A reliable vehicle and current driver’s licence
  • A National Police Check
  • 3 x COVID-19 vaccinations and annual influenza vaccination
  • Current First Aid and CPR accreditation
  • A smartphone to access the mobile worker app

While many of our Home Support Workers have a Certificate III in Home and Community Care, Individual Support or Disability, it is not essential. And if you don’t have all of the above, don’t worry.
